At the time of going to press, the competition has seen three out of the four races taken place, with one more remaining, which is tomorrow (28th August 2010).

Currently the Hunstanton Ski Club representatives are doing well against their European counterparts, with Ben Manchett, Lucy Gale, Georgina Robinson, Glen Manchett, Dan List, Jack Lynch and Harvey Robinson all participating in the current racing.

The Host

The new host of the 2010 European Championships (21-28 Aug) is Arcos de la Frontera in Spain.

Arcos de la Frontera is a town located within the province of Cádiz in southern Spain. It is located on the eastern bank of the Guadalete river, which flows to the Bay of Cadiz. Perched in the hills of Andalucia, with its tangled labyrinth of cobbled streets that lead up to a sandstone castle, Arcos was declared a national historic-artistic monument in 1962 in recognition of its exceptional architecture and impressive location.

Race Day 2 – Monday 23 August

Race Day 3 – Wednesday 25 August

Cardiff Bay offers a unique for the spectators, allowing them close up action of the event.

Action from the event also saw Darren Kirkland winning the overall main race, and securing the title of ‘2010 British Formula 1 Men’s Champion’.

We have scheduled a fun race for this Saturday (Saturday 10th July 2010) and all the details of this race, and the up and coming races, can be found here.

These are a great way to get into the ski racing scene with full race conditions. These are also great to watch, so please come down for what is sure to be another great racing spectacle.

All teams are welcome, and any team that is not part of Hunstanton Ski Club, who wish to participate, are asked to contact Martin Wiles for more information and entry requirements.

This will be a great opportunity for existing racers to practice under race conditions and also a great opportunity to watch some great skiing, from some of the UK’s best skiers.

There will be one Main Race and one Support Race.

The main race entry fee will be £15 per team, while the Support Race is free.

The main race will be a duration of 30 minutes, plus a lap and the support race will be 15 minutes, plus a lap.

We hope to see as many of you there and if you are not skiing, pop down and support the racers!
